From The Editor

Kia ora koutou,

Welcome to my very first blog. I hope you are safe and well, and taking care of each other. So much is changing in our world and I feel a very strong need to stay connected and pull our Toitoi community close.

Toitoi celebrates your creative spirit. It is a platform where you can connect with other young people, a place where we can listen to each other and understand what we have in common and what makes us special. This seems more important than ever right now.

As a way to stay connected and get inspired, we have launched Toitoi TV! We have been working on it behind the scenes for a while and I am delighted to share it with you. It includes Toitoi Together – a fun series of videos of kids reading kids’ stories. Check it out and let me know what you think – you even might consider recording one of your favourite pieces of writing from the journal. Take a look at some tips and tricks for filming on the Toitoi TV page.

I am also excited to receive your submissions for Toitoi 20. Send your writing and art to submit@toitoi.nz by midnight on Friday and tell me about what has been happening in your world. What have you been thinking about? What has changed for you? What are your dreams? Who have you been inspired by? I can’t wait to hear from you.

Aroha nui,
